The app accesses one permission in order to operate, to have read access to users local media (images included only).
On newer Android versions, it is possible to grant read access to a certain subset of local user media, whilst on older versions this permission grants read access to all local user media.

Lupa requests access to the local user media in order to run inference and extract searchable data.
This data is only stored locally on the users device, and used for the purpose of the apps main functionality, that is to provide a searchable index.
Lupa uses models and SDKs provided by MLKit for its functionality.
For more information on how the SDK handles its data, read here and here.
Note that Lupa makes a best effort to prevent unnecessary data transfer but given the constant updates to the SDK it may be possible that some of the above data is sent.
